User Locations & Map Features

The NoRush app provides real-time location tracking for users in a group. Below is an overview of how users appear on the map and how location updates are handled.

Features

Real-Time Location Tracking

• Users who have enabled location sharing will be displayed on the map.
• Updates occur in real-time, ensuring an accurate representation of user movement.
• Background location updates are supported for continuous tracking.

User Markers

• Each user is represented by a marker with their initials or avatar.
• Drivers have a distinct color to differentiate them from passengers.
• Clicking on a user marker opens a bottom sheet with user details and navigation options.

Automatic Updates

• User location updates every 3 seconds when the app is in the foreground.
• In the background, location updates occur at regular intervals if permissions allow.

How It Works

Enabling Location Sharing

Users must grant foreground and background location permissions to enable tracking.

1. Foreground Tracking
   • Used when the app is active.
   • Updates occur every few seconds for precise location.
2. Background Tracking
   • Runs when the app is minimized.
   • Requires special permissions for continuous tracking.

Managing Location Tracking

• Location tracking starts when the app is opened and a session is active.
• If the app moves to the background, the system switches to lower-frequency updates.
• Users can manually stop sharing their location by disabling it in settings.

Group Member Locations

• Group members with location sharing enabled will be visible on the map.
• Their profile images or initials help identify them.
• Clicking on a group member allows users to navigate to their location.

Centering on User Location

Users can press the "My Location" button to center the map on their current position.

Map Styles

• Light Mode and Dark Mode map styles are automatically applied based on system settings.
• A high-contrast map ensures visibility in different lighting conditions.
